Images of orthopedic surgery represent the literal conjunction of body and machine. The close up enlargements are depersonalized whilst, in the actual work, having a strong presence. Proximity is a necessary aspect of the work, so it is important that I take the photographs myself. The aluminium structures holding the images 25cm from the wall work give an industrial feel. Wing nuts are used to enhance the relationship between the structure and metal objects depicted.
